1. Cables and wires are generally composed of three parts: core, insulation wrapping and protective skin. Wires are made up of one or more flexible wires wrapped with a light and soft sheath; cables are made up of one or several insulated wrapped wires, and then wrapped with a tough metal or rubber outer layer.
2. There is no strict boundary between the two. Usually, products with few cores, small diameter and simple structure are called wires, and those without insulation are called bare wires and others are called cables; those with larger conductor cross-section (greater than 6 square millimeters) are called large wires, while those with smaller cross-section (less than or equal to 6 square millimeters) are called small wires. Insulated wires are also called wiring. Cables generally have more than two layers of insulation, most of which are multi-core junctions.
